Weekly Roundup

In this week's blog:

The Energy Jolt discussed the fact that recycling creates almost five times as many jobs as waste disposal. Recycling is an important step in ensuring that we conserve our natural resources. Check with your local city or county government to determine if a recycling pickup service is offered in your area. If a service isn't offered encourage your local elected representatives to consider a recycling program in your city.

The Pork Platter Menu served up some ridiculous floral arrangements from Chicago that cost ALL taxpayers $350,000! Although I understand the importance of keeping Chicago or Indianapolis welcoming and beautiful, I don't believe that Hoosiers should pay for decorations in Chicago.

Other news worthy information not in the blog:

1) USCIS Announces Adoption Policy for Hague Transition Cases - read the press release here. I have voiced my concerns to USCIS. I am hopeful that USCIS remains engaged and continues to debate a workable solution.

2) New IRS Identity Protection Specialized Unit Hotline (800) 908-4490. A new hotline is available for individuals who have previously been in contact with the IRS concerning identity theft and have not achieved a resolution, or have not been contacted by IRS for a tax issue but believe they are a victim of identity theft. The Hours of Operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. your local time (Alaska & Hawaii follow Pacific Time). Additional guidance for resolving identity theft issues is available on the Identity Theft and Your Tax Records Web page.
